The essay examines the notion of urban security. The security measures applied in the city (to counteract the feeling of widespread insecurity) have distanced themselves from the regulations (Minniti decree, first and foremost) and consider in a differentiated manner the central parts of the city, from which subjects who are not necessarily dangerous are removed, with the aim of protecting the aesthetic decorum of the places, while the suburbs which have been abandoned to a condition of marginality. Within a progression between administrative measures and criminal repression, the Constitutional Court has recently reiterated the indispensability of a rigorous assessment of the dangerousness of the subject.
