This paper analyzes the innovations introduced in the participatory field by Umbria Region law No. 1/2024, amending the Statute. In order to understand if, and in what terms, the new prescriptions introduced by the regional legislator take Umbria a step forward compared to the configuration of participatory democracy is essential to analyze the principles contained in the Aarhus Convention, the first treaty to regulate this new form of democracy in full. After the configuration of the archetype of participatory democracy instrument, will be analyzed the participation configured in the previous version of the Umbria Region Statute then move to the modifications made by Umbria Region law No. 1/2024.
