In this paper, the author proposes a comparison between Stirner and La Boétie in the light of an anarchist interpretation of their two major works. Using the concept of alienation, the essay analyses the two authors’ critique of political authority and, more specifically, of obedience. In conclusion, the author attempts a juxtaposition between the "Discours" and "Der Einzige" also with reference to the relational dimension indicated therein as a possibility for coexistence alternative to that defined by the principle of authority.
