The article presents the results of an enquiry into some Italian journals of general history («Rivista storica italiana», «Studi Storici», «Quaderni storici», «Società e Storia», «Storica»), with the aim of identifying the main research on the subject of the history of institutions in the modern age that has been published in them over the last thirty years, and – more specifically – the contribution that scholars belonging to the scientific-disciplinary field of the History of Political Institutions have given to them.
