Thanks to the analysis of the documents produced by the summits of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), as well as other groupings and fora representing Third World countries and Palestinian official documents, this paper aims to shed light on the positions and influence of the NAM on the question of Palestine. At the same time, it also shows the ability of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) to influence the positioning of international organizations and use it for both external and internal legitimization. Such analysis is developed against the background of the major events that shaped Middle Eastern politics and global affairs so as to connect single trajectories and political agencies to the evolution of the international political system. As a result, the paper illustrates on the one hand the rise and fall of NAM global influence on the question of Palestine. On the other, it provides an account of how the PLO leadership understanding and relations with the NAM changed according to the evolution of its political and diplomatic priorities.
