This article explores the representation of non-conforming bodies in the Netflix series Bodies (2023), focusing on how corporeality functions as both a site of marginalization and resistance. Through a critical framework informed by Cultural Studies (especially the work of Stuart Hall), Cultural Narratology, and Material and Intersectional Feminism, the essay examines the intersection of gender, race, (dis)ability, and power across the four interconnected timelines of the series and within the experiences and relationships of its protagonists. Bodies challenges hegemonic narratives by intertwining dystopian and historical settings, revealing how bodies – whether marked by racial, sexual, or physical difference – become sites of political inscription and agency. Characters like Shahara Hasan and Iris Maplewood embody complex identities that disrupt normative paradigms, illustrating how marginalization can be re-signified as a source of resistance. Ultimately, the series frames the body not only as a text to be decoded but also as an active agent capable of reshaping history, memory, and social hierarchies.
