688Under a methodological standpoint, the article addresses the issue of the relationship between political parties and form of government within the traditional approach of Maurice Duverger, based on a method that combines constitutive elements of forms of goverment (constitutional and electoral norms) and elements that influence the functioning of forms of government (party systems). The analysis specifically takes into account the historical circumstances that have shaped the different countries under consideration and the establishment of constitutional conventions, as necessary elements to enable a full understanding of these dynamics.
