This article explores different legal conceptions of the commons that developed in urban contexts shaped by tourism-driven transformations. It examines how different actors resort to distinct legal notions of the commons to pursue diverse political agendas and visions of society. It also highlights how such divergent conceptions ultimately enact different models of citizenship that can either reinforce or resist growing patterns of inequality in cities.
