Today, it is more urgent than ever to offer structured theoretical responses to the need to protect the future of the human species. This article therefore aims to explore the possibility of a coherent theoretical position in support of the legal recognition of the rights of future generations. Through an analysis of the most challenging arguments in the debate, the problem of the identity of future people is investigated, together with the controversial concept of generation.
