957In recent years, the Commonwealth Caribbean has emerged as one of the most dynamic constitutional laboratories, marked by a wide range of reform initiatives and their heterogeneous outcomes. A central theme in these debates is the tension between the aspiration to move beyond the Westminster model – perceived in these contexts as a hypermajoritarian system, and even dubbed the 'Westmonster model' by some legal scholars – and the persistent difficulty of fully transcend it. This study seeks to identify common patterns across the reform efforts, whether completed or merely attempted, in order to shed light on the constitutional trajectories pursued by the sovereign states of this region. The analysis highlights their struggle to reconcile the drive toward an indigenous constitutionalism with the enduring weight of the British legacy.
