The article examines the current organization of the regional health system in Sardinia and, based on the most recent official data available, seeks to provide the reader with an evaluation of its efficiency and effectiveness. The data considered in the analysis is related to monitoring based on the New Guarantee System (NGS) for the provision of Essential Levels of Care. This aspect merits particular attention in the context of Sardinia, as the region, by virtue of its responsibility for financing the overall needs of the National Health Service on its territory without any contribution from the State budget, is not subject to the same verification requirements as other regions. This unique situation may potentially result in incomplete data.
