The essay analyses the controversial relationship between the developments of feminist thought and the affirmation of the principle of equality as a legal instrument to combat discrimination. An important part of this path has developed in the dialectic between equality and difference. In the most recent phase, the multiplication of identities and differences has set new challenges for anti-discrimination law.
