This essay describes the library of Ronco dell’Abate – now open to visitors – founded by Gianfranco Miglio (1918-2001), an eminent constitutional scholar, historian of institutions and doctrines and political scientist. The Ronco is the villa that Professor Miglio built and inhabited from the late 1960s until his death. The development of the library is examined in relation to the succession of the many lines of research pursued by Miglio throughout his life as an eclectic and wide-ranging scholar.
