This essay presents the personal archive of Maria Luisa Zardini De Marchi, member and activist of the Italian Association for Demographic Education (AIED), Rome section, since the mid-Fifties. The paper reproduces and examines a number of typed and handwritten documents (reports, meeting minutes, correspondence) that contribute to the study of the birth control movement in Italy from a trans-local and trans-national perspective. A significant part of the sources covers a «house to house» contraceptive experimentation and counselling project in the suburbs of Rome, launched in the late Fifties with the financial support of a US organisation, the Pathfinder Fund.
