Lo stupro costituisce un tema costitutivo di numerosi miti e leggende fondative della tradizione occidentale, spesso trasmesso in discorsi che ne hanno edulcorato la componente di violenza, in una galleria di «immagini contese» (Maifreda), su cui si basa un canone culturale di matrice patriarcale. Il saggio si propone un sondaggio tematico sulla rappresentazione del “ratto” nella letteratura del Seicento, restringendo il campo alla scrittura delle donne e prendendo in considerazione in particolare le prospettive assunte da Margherita Sarrocchi e Margherita Costa nelle loro opere con un duplice obiettivo: in primo luogo, fornire un contributo su autrici che sono state silenziate e rimosse dal canone, quindi verificare se e in che misura un tema ad alta sensibilità possa essere interpretato in modo differente dalla specola di una scrivente donna. L’indagine si propone di dimostrare come le autrici riscrivano in modo originale il motivo del “ratto”, mettendo in scena protagoniste che, pur subendo violenza, reagiscono e si trasformano da vittime in protagoniste (Costa) oppure donne che si difendono da sole evitando l’abuso (Sarrocchi).    Rape represents a theme that, on the one hand, is constitutive of numerous foundational myths and legends of the Western tradition, on the other hand, it has often been transmitted through discourses that have downplayed its component of violence, within a gallery of «contested images» (Maifreda) upon which a masculinist and patriarchal cultural canon is built. This essay proposes a thematic survey on the representation of 'rape' in seventeenth-century literature, narrowing the field to women's writing and taking into particular consideration the works of Margherita Sarrocchi and Margherita Costa, with two primary objectives: first, to contribute to the study of authors who have been silenced and excluded from the canon, and second, to verify if and to what extent such a highly sensitive theme can be interpreted differently from the perspective of a female writer. The investigation aims to reveal how these female authors rewrite the motif of the 'rape' in an innovative way, staging female characters who, despite experiencing violence, react and transform from victims into protagonists (Costa) or women who independently defend themselves, avoiding abuse (Sarrocchi).
