The notion of "violence against women in its digital dimension" or the "digital dimension of violence against women" is comprehensive enough to comprise both online acts of violence and those perpetrated through technology, including technologies yet to be developed. These acts are part of the continuum of offline gender-based violence against women. Therefore, although the Istanbul Convention does not specifically address the digital dimension of violence against women and domestic violence, it is nevertheless relevant in preventing and combating this "distinct" but not "separate" dimension of violence, together with other treaties, such as the Budapest Convention.
