The article aims to analyze the principle of the best interests of the child in the context of special procedures and the detention of unaccompanied minors referring specifically to the European Union's border areas. Notably, it investigates some of the regulatory institutions relating to the treatment of unaccompanied minors provided for in the New Pact on Migration and Asylum and how these are combined with the principle of the best interests of the child in the light of the fragmentary nature of the matter under consideration, as well as according to the implementation of the Member States.
