332The purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the recent developments in Italian legal practice concerning the primacy of EU law. As a general principle of European Union law, primacy is regarded as the cornerstone of the autonomy of the EU legal order. It is from this fundamental principle that the remedies of disapplication of national provisions, consistent interpretation and State liability arise, thus ensuring the full effectiveness of EU law. Given the prominent domestic implementation of primacy, the main objective of this study is devoted to the examination of how this principle has been interpreted and applied at a national level through a deep analysis of Italian case law. The investigation focuses on areas where the requirements of uniform application of EU law most affect the Italian legal system, such as matters reserved to legislation and other sensitive judicial and political domains concerning the status of applicants for international protection.
