The article aims to explore the potentials of the concept of "intersectionality" in social research and intervention on transnational families. The article, through a critical review of research contributions, argues that the intersectional approach contributes to sociological research on transnational families, improving advances in 1) defining research questions on individual and family trajectories, situated agency and the impact of the institutional context; 2) developing methods for collecting and analyzing qualitative data through a decolonial, positioning and participative perspective; 3) improving empowering and anti-oppressive social interventions.
