The desire to play has been innate in humans since the beginning of time, but over the past 20 years, an unusual trend has emerged among some players: a return to the past. This contrasts with society's general drive for progress and improvement in all fields. Retrogamers are those players who love the culture of video games from previous generations. In an experience built on settings, atmospheres, and memories, an aspect not to be underestimated is the music of retrogames, which actively contributes to creating interest and enjoyment for players. The aim of this study is to identify potential rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic elements in the music compositions of retrogames that are capable of evoking emotions, and if so, which ones. By analyzing the main themes of four well-known retrogames: Super Mario Bros, Tetris, The Legend of Zelda, and Pac-Manthis research will explore musical similarities and assess whether these elements have contributed to the games' success with the public.
