This critical note offers a comparative analysis of "Il gergo gay italiano" by Daniel De Lucia and "Le parole arcobaleno" by Elena Pepponi—two foundational works for understanding the LGBT+ lexicon in contemporary Italy. Moving along the axis of linguistic stigma, queer performativity, and discursive agency, the contribution explores the processes of resemanticization and degergalization that shape the language of non-heteronormative subjectivities. Particular attention is given to inclusive morphosyntax, terminological technification, and the therapeutic function of language, conceived as a space of resistance and identity construction. Some of the reflections presented here revisit and expand on ideas first developed in Voci (ri)trovate (forthcoming in InDiscipline, October 2025), now further enriched through direct engagement with De Lucia's work. What emerges is a critical perspective on language as a political and relational tool, capable of transforming stigma into a resource and redefining the boundaries of the sayable.
