487This paper analyzes the transformative impact of Generative Artificial intelligence (GenAi) on higher education, examining its potential to revolutionize teaching methodologies, learning experiences, and institutional operations. Accessible tools like ChatGpt, Claude, and Dall-e have created a paradigm shift, rendering many traditional assessment methods obsolete while opening new avenues for innovation. The research identifies a significant knowledge gap between educators and students regarding Ai functionality, with students often leading adoption. Attempts to prohibit Ai use are deemed counterproductive, comparable to historical resistance to technological advancement. Instead, the paper advocates for thoughtful integration that leverages Ai as a productivity tool while preparing students for an Ai-enhanced professional landscape. Applications for students include writing and coding assistance, Socratic tutoring, task automation, information gathering, and creative exploration. The technology enhances productivity but exhibits limitations requiring human oversight. For educators and institutions, GenAi enables personalized learning, research assistance, content creation, assessment innovation, and administrative optimization. Ai will necessitate a fundamental reevaluation of educational priorities, reducing emphasis on memorization while elevating critical analysis, creative problem-solving, and effective Ai collaboration.
