The proposed EDIS regulation is still valid in its purposes but obsolete in many of its fundamental parts, as those relating the establishment of the deposit insurance fund, the gradual increase of the costs borne by the system and the impossibility of financing preventive and alternative measures. Updating the regulation of these aspects requires decisions of a political nature: those proposed by the European Parliament and the Draghi report do not appear to be able to ensure the pursuit of all the objectives of the original proposal.
