360The essay examines the implications of the Directive 2024/825/UE, which amends the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (2005/29/CE) to address greenwashing and unfair commercial practices related to environmental claims, reflecting a regulatory shift toward ensuring that sustainability-related commercial communications are truthful, verifiable, and do not distort consumer behavior. Through this analysis, the article suggests that while the Directive advances the regulation of greenwashing, there are still challenges in its application, particularly regarding the effective implementation of private enforcement and the role of independent certification in upholding truthful sustainability claims.
