European Union is facing long-lasting challenges, like global competition played on the ground of innovation, and has not – as yet – demonstrated sufficient progress in meeting them. Moreover, new challenges have emerged recently – global warming and global political and even military insecurity. The report published in autumn 2024 by Mario Draghi addresses these challenges and indicates the need for increased efforts of the whole of the EU for the sake of meeting them. This note highlights the main theses of the report, and puts them into the framework of necessary reforms of the EU policies and the EU integration processes.
