451Technology and society share a symbiotic relationship, influencing each other continuously. The digital era requires not just technical skills but competencies rooted in critical thinking, adaptation, and cultural mediation. Digitization is not about scanning objects but transforming entire cultural contexts into digital forms, which means moving from a semiotic system to a new one, which requires hybridization of traditional and digital skills. In some ways, a cultural mediator is needed more than a digital archivist, a digital librarian, a digital whatever: the term "digital" as a defining attribute is not adequate, as digital is now integral to all professions. Education must prioritize embedding digital transformation into teaching from the outset, emphasizing ethics, sociology, and theoretical foundations over technical proficiencies. The goal is not merely skill-building but fostering multidimensional competencies to navigate complexity and govern processes in a hyperconnected, onlife world.
