According to moral influence theories, agents are morally responsible when their conduct is sensitive to the regulatory influence of responsibility practices and, more notably, of praise or blame, reward or punishment. After representing the main route to compatibilism in the pre-Strawson and pre-Frankfurt era, the moral influence approach is nowadays widely considered as a bizarre relic of logical positivism. At least a part of such disrepute depends on the severe and often unanswered objections it received during the second half of the XX century. In this paper, I sketch a new version of the moral influence theory that I believe can answer those objections. As a tribute to the philosopher who inspired it, I call it the Neo-Schlickian Theory of Moral Responsibility (NST).
