38The experiences of "Buba and Jamal" represent those of two migrant men turned away at the Brenner border, compelled to remain in the city of Bolzano as they await a new phase in life. Their stories reveal the complex interplay of multiple temporalities: the bureaucratic time embedded within the asylum system; the sociohistorical time of existing as migrants in contemporary Europe; the anticipatory time shaped by health challenges, exclusion, and the looming shadow of marginalization, particularly as men from colonized backgrounds. A feminist ethnographic lens provides insight into how gender constructs act as confining structures within which masculinities in transit unfold amid a landscape of "necropolitics". Bolzano thus emerges as a space where time stretches, accelerates, and suspends, weaving together the fates of these two men across years of ethnographic research.
