This essay aims to demonstrate how the key elements of Rostow’s work, originally focused on economic analysis, served a fundamentally political purpose. His discourse sought to promote the American liberal model on a global scale, underpinned by a deep-seated belief in its exceptionalism and historical inevitability. Adopting an analytical approach, the essay examines a selection of texts published by Rostow between the 1950s and 1970s to uncover the political agendas embedded within his analyses.
