The boundaries of journalism are increasingly blurred, allowing independent content creators – «journalistic interlopers» – to produce and distribute news outside traditional media structures. This study examines six Spanish interlopers operating on TikTok, YouTube, and Twitch, assessing their journalistic practices, audience engagement, and adherence to professional standards. Findings indicate that while these creators offer engaging news content, their approaches vary in terms of credibility, depth, and editorial independence. Platform affordances shape their strategies, with short-form, fast-paced content on TikTok differing from YouTube’s documentary-style videos or Twitch’s interactive discussions. Critical questions are raised about journalistic legitimacy and the shifting dynamics of news production.
