This article discusses two opposing ethical visions of AI: techno-centrism and human-centrism. The first is in favour of the development of technologies that simulate and surpass human beings. The second intends to allow technological interventions on humans without distorting their identity. It is recognised that there are qualitative differences between AI and human intelligence. By these, the human should be or must be 'preserved'. This assumption underlies both the most recent European regulation, the "AI Act", and several documents and opinions of ethics committees on AI, which underline some ethical requirements.
