The purpose of this experience was to draw attention to mistakes called «slips of the pen». As they are made unintentionally, these mistakes should be differentiated from orthographic errors. Referring to Ellis’ study (1979) a classification of errors was developed and divided into three levels: graphemic, graph and allograph and used to correct the work (dictation and composition) of a group of secondary students with learning disabilities. The results have shown a significant number of graphemic «slips of the pen». We found that perseveration errors were the most common in the dictation test, whereas omission errors were predominant in the writing composition test.
