The aim of this article is to analyse the impact of the increasing hybridization of the third sector on the quality of working life. The research field concerns advocacy organizations in Italy and the dynamics of work transformation within them, focusing on the figure of the face-to-face fundraiser, the person in charge of street or door-to-door fundraising for one or more of these organizations. The article analyses this profession through the dimensions of job quality, using selected case studies. The research shows that the growing competition for resources among advocacy organizations leads them to strengthen their fundraising activities, with particular attention to those dedicated to recruiting individual donors, who provide greater independence. This context creates a growing tension between the different organizational logics (instrumental and solidarity-based), which affects the quality of work for face-to-face fundraisers, particularly at the ergonomic and symbolic level.
