234Several studies have dealt with the relationship between young people and science, focusing mainly on the analysis of their attitudes towards science, interest in technoscientific topics, the level of knowledge acquired and the propensity to undertake scientific careers. Less attention, however, has been paid to their participation in the processes of legitimation and stabilization of scientific knowledge. Furthermore, the preference for quantitative research techniques limited the possibility of fully understanding how the technoscientific apparatus contributes to reproducing and shaping the functioning of society and everyday routines. This article focuses on the relationship between young people and technoscientific information based on the results of qualitative research carried out with high school students in Lombardy. In particular, the ways in which technoscientific information (and misinformation) circulates, how it is received, and how it is then used in everyday life are analyzed. Although immersed in a technologically dense life, young people pay little attention to technoscientific information and their relationship with science appears highly individualized and characterized by a high degree of trust in the institution. Furthermore, although they use clear and effective strategies to evaluate the reliability of scientific information online, they appear to be little aware of the real social processes of scientific knowledge production and for this reason vulnerable to misinformation.
