This text refers to the seminar held by Paola Camassa in January 2025 at the Psychoanalytic Centre in Florence as part of the series Il gioco delle passioni (The Game of Passions). I wanted to talk about the struggle, the discovery and the wonder: wonder as the analyst’s passion. Without the striking, fulfilling experience of those discoveries we can make by following the path of dreams, we will never experience wonder and we will lose faith in representation. In my seminars, I insist to my students on the responsibility we have to nurture dreams. Almost all of our heritage has been exported, with the exception of the theory and technique of dream interpretation. I am driven by this passion and I know that I cannot devote myself to anything other than these tests. Tests in the sense of exercises, putting our theory to the test.
