The COVID-19 pandemic has changed people’s daily lives and ways of travelling and working: the health emergency has downed the tourist demand of residents and, at the same time, it has contributed to the strengthening of new travel behaviours. This article proposes an analysis of the pandemic impact on Italian residents’ tourist demand and its adaptability to the changed context. The work focuses on the new way of travelling styles and the mix of work and holiday, with particular attention to some regional specificities, in order to stimulate a reflection on the opportunities and risks of the so-called "holiday work".
