The paper aims to contribute to the debate on sustainability in social services, focusing on how to promote it at the meso level of service organization and management, based on the following research questions: 1) What implications does each dimension of sustainability have for social work as both a discipline and a profession? 2) How can economic, environmental, and social sustainability be jointly promoted within social work services? The literature review on ecosocial work highlights the need to adopt new economic models that move away from profit-driven logic, expand the holistic perspective of social work to include people’s living environments, and refocus on the preventive dimension of social work, starting with the adoption of participatory processes to enhance the social sustainability of services. Finally, it emphasizes that the challenge of sustainability requires commitment not only at the meso level of the organisation of services but also at the micro level of the helping relationship and the macro level of policies.
