120Giacomo Boni’s work has been extensively studied and re-evaluated in the post-war period, primarily within the disciplinary scope of archaeology. However, a century after his death, a comprehensive and integrated assessment of his professional profile is still lacking – particularly in relation to those research areas that, alongside excavation, shaped the layout and interpretation of archaeological sites between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, especially in Rome. Without a complete publication of his restoration projects, and in particular his complex and innovative proposals for the use of vegetation – at the time a new approach – Boni’s role as a meticulous and visionary coordinator of these archeological landscapes remains only partially understood. This paper aims to shed light on these lesser-known aspects of Boni’s activity, with the objective of situating them within a coherent and contextually informed framework of interpretation.
