Titolo Hedley Bull: tra realismo e utopismo? Periodico Storia del pensiero politico Anno: 2025 - Fascicolo: 3 - Pagina iniziale: 367 - Pagina finale: 384
The international theory formulated by Hedley Bull is considered from the perspective of his philosophical and political position between idealism and realism, namely the two main scientific paradigms at the origin of the IR discipline. On the backdrop of this dichotomy, Bull’s position will be investigated in order to reconstruct three fundamental issues: his methodological and epistemological approach, and in particular, his use of the historical methodology as a necessary analytic tool of inquiry; his conception of law; his contextual analysis of the historical and contingent relation between order and justice.
