The paper aims at investigating the main problems of administrative organization of tourism in the light of the new public policies related to the so-called smart city. In particular, after having gone through the major issues concerning environmental and energy aspects, especially those related to landscapes and territories, this work will focus on the relationships between the different kinds of tourism and the new technological opportunities. This analysis will allow us to put the "Internet of Things" solutions with the organizational, administrative and procedural tools. Such tools are designed to facilitate, under a public policies level, a desirable legal and cultural paradigm shift required to transform our cities, both large and small ones, into hospitable, safe, innovative and sustainable tourist destinations.
