Telesio’s natural philosophy has been regarded as having a meaningful trait in common with Parmenides’ doctrine. Nevertheless, the latter has never had a unified and coherent depiction among ancient authors. Furthermore, the version of Parmenides’ philosophy that appears to inspire Telesio is not the most traditional one. Thus, this paper aims to investigate which representation of Parmenides is considered by Telesio and from where he ultimately derives it. In doing so, the paper examines some of the debates that have arisen in relation to Telesio’s philosophy, as well as certain ancient texts dealing with Parmenides’ doctrine, with the additional aim of highlighting how modern philosophy has occasionally drawn upon ancient philosophy.
