502Connected learning offers a compelling framework for designing and studying interest-driven learning environments outside of school in the digital age. Typically applied to digitally mediated spaces that foster artistic development or STEM learning, we purport that connected learning is also a useful framework for conceptualizing young people’s development of political thought and action. We make this argument by drawing on evidence from the "International Youth Organizing Study" (IYOS), which examined youth community organizing in four countries (Watts et al., 2018). We share examples showing how youth community organizing is a unique and productive context to examine the development of youth political attitudes and actions, especially among marginalized youth. We describe two themes: "Aligning Interests with Social Action" and "Disseminating Knowledge via Face-to-Face and Multimodal Collaborations". We conclude with a discussion on how youth community organizing can challenge and extend the connected learning framework in productive ways.
