The review of Jhering’s "La lotta pel diritto" is one of Bobbio’s first academic writings. When he wrote it, in 1935, he was only 26 years old. The author published the work in the magazine 'La Cultura'. As Giulio Einaudi stated, that magazine was born as a continuation of 'Ordine Nuovo' and Gobetti’s 'Risorgimento liberale', but it had been adapted to the new, much harsher political circumstances. Fascism had already given itself exceptional laws and the survival of a non-conformist publication was not easy. Thus 'La Cultura' did not explicitly present itself as a magazine of political struggle, but rather as a magazine of studies. However, it intended to keep alive the critical spirit towards power and Bobbio’s review appears to be entirely consistent with this intent.
