542This contribution aims to highlight a conflict between two notions of information within the logicality of language literature – one concerning grammaticality and the other concerning scalar implicatures – and to argue in favour of one of two possible solutions. We suggest that the right notion of information for logicality is halfway between the one introduced by Bar-Hillel and Carnap and the one defended by Floridi. In this way, both tautological and contradictory constructions turn out to be uninformative, but for different reasons. This, in turn, grounds the novel prediction that speakers will judge differently the grade of unacceptability of the two kinds of constructions.
