563The study of evil from a psychological point of view receives a decisive impulse from the horrors of the Holocaust. Milgram, Zimbardo, and Ash’s research on obedience and conformity revealed previously unknown aspects of human nature. Evil, psychologically, has been explained according to different perspectives: situationist, interactionist, and according to personality psychology. For this purpose, a differentiation of its typologies would allow a better study of the underlying psychological motivations. Recent perspectives have shown that evil, however, is not attributable only to certain individuals, but is latent, to different degrees, in each of us. For future research and for contrasting the evil, it is necessary to understand with the same accuracy the nature of those who choose prosocial and heroic behaviors, risking their safety for the good of the other, when in their context the opposite happens.
