Thanks to the rise of OTT (Over-The-Top) platforms, the Italian television industry has significantly expanded its circulation opportunities, with the emergence of new spaces for audiovisual dissemination. On the one hand, the rise of high-end productions designed for prolonged and transnational exploitation, and on the other, regulations promoting the circulation and «recovery» of original Italian content, make the management of secondary rights for serial titles crucial. In this context, international distribution within VOD (video-on-demand) catalogs becomes a central element. This paper demonstrates how an updated institutional source (Lumiere VOD) can be utilized to unveil intriguing aspects of the circulation of original Italian fiction in on-demand catalogs – digital environments long considered invisible and akin to «black boxes». Based on the data collected, the paper proposes a hypothesis for modeling the distribution and «reuse» pathways of contemporary domestic seriality within the libraries of major European countries.
