The question concerning the connection between Nietzschean thought and the philosophical determination of the concept of the Anthropocene entails a rethinking of Nietzsche’s conception of nature. At the heart of this conception lies the idea of force. This article maps Nietzsche’s "Naturphilosophie" starting from the centrality of the concept of force, assessing its theoretical implications against the backdrop of the debate on the Anthropocene. This inquiry reflects on the Nietzschean idea of «force» ("Kraft"), exploring its musical inflection. The German word "Kraft" translates the Greek term "dynamis", and «dynamics» (that is, the articulation of force/power/intensity in musical sound) becomes a strategic concept at least since the reflections of Hans Georg Nägeli, who introduced the term "Dynamik" into the musical lexicon in 1810. The dynamic ontology of music is reflected in the increased importance of the dynamic dimension in musical composition, starting with Beethoven (a pivotal figure for both Nietzsche and Wagner). This theoretical background makes it possible to perceive musical timbre within the conceptualization of force, "dynamis", in Nietzsche’s "Naturphilosophie". The affirmative character of force thus becomes the correlate of a dynamic conception of sound, through which the nature of all that exists may be understood. Music becomes the dimension through which the "anthropos" raises the question of the dynamic character of totality, entering a creative interplay with it.
