Metaphors are powerful tools: they reflect how we interpret our experiences, shape mindsets and profoundly influence expectations. This study explores the images that students use to describe their school experiences. The project involved third and fourth year students from different types of secondary schools over the period January to June 2024, a total of approximately 150 students. The aim of this work is to give voice to the metaphors by and with the students, as they emerged from their responses and classroom discussions, in order to contribute to the reflection and improvement of educational practices.
