The essay aims to move away from a literal interpretation of the constitutional provision on craftsmanship, in order to frame this particular expression of entrepreneurship in a systematic way. In particular, the author focuses on the concepts of «craftsman», «protection», and «development» to place them within the system of principles and values enshrined in the Constitution in an attempt to highlight the fundamental implications of this activity with respect to the realization of the project of social transformation envisaged therein.
