The essay proposes a reflexion about the "Statuto dei lavoratori", starting from an evaluation of the present legislation and from a concise recapitulation of the evolution of labour law in the post-statute phase. The critical excursus leads the author to assert that the "Statuto" not only is quite modern but it should inspire, on the point of principles, an overall reform of labour law. Particularly, the main issue remains the connection the "Statuto" fulfilled between workers' individual and collective rights.
